SERIES: POLYCHROMATIC PERCEPTION

These bold, multi-colored paintings invite the viewer to enter a space of joyful expression, contemplative introspection, or peaceful fluidity.

Whether a passage of transitional color, the random markings of artist in studio, or that elusive formation of felt structure, each piece contains its own visual logic, balance and subtle power. The juxtaposition of grace and chaos, and their eventual resolution, whispers a metaphor of life's triumphs and valleys.

Force, movement, and light summon the viewer's unique response and internal contribution:

"I live with Eric's painting in my living room and cannot imagine it not being there. Each time I look at it I'm moved and see something new...some passage that speaks a new note, or colors not seen in yesterday's light. I smile, and the vision lingers in my mind's eye."

Each of these works is done in acrylic on stretched canvas, and are 1.5" thick (museum mount) with the painting continuing on all edges. Paint and color are built up over months of intermittent application, producting a rich textural finish. Some also contain other media, like paper or plastic.
